PICTOU

Pictou is a lovely small town with an interesting historical past, and many old stone buildings. The town is located about 10 kms north of New Glasgow on the norther side of Pictou Harbour. Pictou Harbour exits onto the Northumberland Strait. The town was the entry point for many Scottish immigrants during the Highland Clearances in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and a replica of the Hector, one of the more famous ships that these people arrived on, is today one of the major attractions for visitors to the Pictou County area.
